Updated Zoonotic Influenza Reference Guide

Version 2 of the Zoonotic Influenza Detection, Response, Prevention and Control Reference Guide , originally released in 2022 as a repository of up-to-date information on animal and zoonotic infuenzas, is now available on the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) website. A collaborative project between the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Alliance of State Public Health Veterinarians (NASPHV), and CSTE, the guide is intended to support state and local animal and public health officials in acquiring rapid situational awareness of an animal or zoonotic influenza event, including novel human infections, though it also provides a broad background and historical information on influenza in humans and animals.

The updated guide includes new content on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) key events, HPAI outbreak control guidance, State best practices, and more. For a more in depth overview watch the Zoonotic Influenza Reference Guide: 2024 Update provided by Dr. Meg Schaeffer as part of the CDC’s ZOHU call series.
