On January 18, 2023 the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announced their intent to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) to examine potential environmental effects of their response to the ongoing HPAI outbreak in the US. APHIS is accepting public comment to further define the scope of the EIS, and identify reasonable alternatives, potential issues, and additional information for consideration, until February 17, 2023.
